Happy New Year Big River members!!
Hope all made it through the holidays and
are doing well!
If you did not attend the Christmas party
at Wayne and Jane’s this year, you missed a great time,
great fellowship and last but not least, GREAT food!! Thank
you so much to Wayne and Jane for having this event at your
home and thanks to all that brought food. All was good for a
few new pounds and, as always, delicious!
As we go into a new year I would like for
us to think about all the good times, good friends and all
the blessings we have had as a club this past year and we
are all still here. I hope this year will be even better.
I hope all of you will attend our first
club meeting of the year, Thursday, January 12, 2012 at
Swinging Bridge Fish House.
See you soon!
Judy
Well *#$%! I asked Santa if he would take over this blasted
nooseletter but I guess the answer was no. So it looks like
I am still stuck with it! Thanks for nothing there Santa,
I'll have some extra special cookies put out for you next
Christmas!
Happy New Year from ME 2! 2012 if here, like it or not.
Can't send it back, can't exchange it! We will just have to
wait it out and let it run it's course. Beware though, it is
going to be a long one, a whole
day longer! If you are not aware of it, 2012 is a leap year
which means that the month of February will have 29 days in
it.
I had to go back and do some Wikipedia research
because I forget the reason for a leap year. For those of
you who are in the same boat I’m in, let me refresh your
memories with what I found.
A leap year is a year
containing one extra day in order to keep the calendar year
synchronized with the astronomical or seasonal year. Because
seasons and astronomical events do not repeat in a whole
number of days a calendar that had the same number of days
in each year would, over time, drift with respect to the
event it was supposed to track. By occasionally inserting an
additional day or month into the year, the drift can be
corrected. OK, that only made my head hurt! Glad someone
figured all that out. Let's all just hope and pray that the
world does not come to an end this year as someone has
predicted and portrayed in the movie 2012.
Now then,
on with other things you need to know. With the New Year I am proud to report that Big
River Classics has
new membership! Jack & Sherril
Neal are our newest couple to join our elite little club! They
are from Ridgeland, MS and have a 1957 Chevy. Jack has told
me that they look forward to parking their classic Chevy
right along side our classic Chevys. Right now the
Neal's only have "associate membership" status, but as soon
as they attend their first meeting we will “put
them through the ringer” and hopefully vote them in as
official members. Welcome to BRC Jack & Sherril!
Next, I regret to report that even though we gained new
membership it appears that we have also lost a couple of
memberships. Nothing new about that though! I've been in the
club for around 11 years now and I have seen members come
and I have seen members go and I have faith that BRC will go
on no matter how big or how small we are. When Jane and I joined this
club it was small then and it is small now. In August of 2001
there were only twelve
family memberships which consisted of Bobby & Jessie
Buckley, Bobby & Diane Clark, John & Rachel Davis, Tay & Dot
Everett, Ade & Linda Fleming, Larry & Becky Holder, Dale &
Pat Holloway, Bryan & Keri Horn, Dean & Louise Horn, Tommy &
Donna Marshall, Will Matthews, and Ed & Mary Robertson.
About 4 years ago BRC grew to a whopping membership of 26
families! Now in 2012 we have scaled back to 15. That's
still not bad for a local Tri-5 club in my opinion. They say
dynamite comes in small packages!
For those BRC members who
have a car or car parts for sale, please note that beginning this month I am
adding back "For Sale by Members" to be seen in our monthly
newsletter. We have a "Classified" section on the web site
but for some reason I have doubts that it is being visited
on a regular basis.
So I figure it would not hurt to put items for sale back in
the newsletter too. Now that you know, just send me
information of what you have for sale and I will be happy
to list it. Pictures usually help sales so send me digital photos
of your items also if you wish. I am sure that there are
more than just Bill Barbuto who has a few parts
laying around that might just interest other readers. I do
but not ready to list them yet. So please check out
"For Sale by Members" on down in the newsletter. Not much
now but could be next month.
The Robertsons have
supplied us with flyers for the Chevy show in Hammond LA in
March, thanks! I handed out some at the Christmas party. I
will bring the rest to the next meeting in case you did not
get one or perhaps have lost yours since then.
I have written and mailed
letters to all of our sponsors begging them to renew and
continue their valued sponsorship with the Big River
Classics. I even sent them self addressed stamped envelopes
to further express our gratitude for their sponsorships and
let the postage be on us! I would like to thank them all
again now. Thanks AAMCO Transmissions, Bullock Body Shop, Danchuk, Deep
South Spring and Blade, Delta Muffler & Exhaust, Heritage Insurance, Orchard Pig
Music Company, Ridgeland Auto World, Route 66 Restoration
Supplies, Thomas Transmission, and
T-Tommy's!
Thank you for your past support and future support!
Well, I have been on
vacation for over a week but had to go back to the old
drawing board. Since I was on vacation, I more or less
refused to ruin it by worrying with this nooseletter much.
Nothing else news worthy in the editors section, so
I am going to sneak out right about now and spare you from
any more of my BS! Catch y'all next month if the earth does
not open up and swallow us all up before then! Tip.....buy a
plane, learn to fly it and hope there is a place you can
land it.
In God We Trust!
Wayne
Next
meeting will be on Thursday January
12th at Swinging Bridge Fish House
in Byram
All members are
encouraged to: Attend the monthly
meetings. Arrive a little early and eat before the
meeting is called to order at 7:00. Drive to meetings
in their classic Chevys when time and weather permits.
Please wear your club shirt or other form of clothing
bearing the BRC logo for public recognition and to
show club loyalty.
Please remember
that our meetings are always on the second Thursday of each
month, unless you are otherwise notified!

Bobby Clark is still dealing with
complications from his stroke so please keep him and Diane
in your thoughts and prayers. Wayne Hart's brother
David had back surgery last month and is recovering very
well, but continues to suffer from complications of stomach
cancer from almost 13 years ago which has gradually led to
malnutrition and neuropathy. Please include David
Hart in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks!
We have heard that Tommy Smith (Chicken Willie) from
Brookhaven has brought his wife Charlene home from the
hospital after a 3 or 4 day stay and the doctor has given
her about two more weeks to live. Please keep the Smith
family in your thoughts and prayers.
Jessie has reported that she recently saw our friend Carol Evans who broke her foot while
at Grand Gulf Military park with us back in November. Carol
is out of her
cast now
and walking without a crutch. Her doctor told her she did
great but she is still going to have knee surgery before too
much longer. She also told Jessie that she and Jim had won
first place in the antique car division of the Pelahatchie
Christmas parade and that their award was a fifty dollar
bill. Sounds like prayers at work right there!
Please remember to always pray for
our Country and for the right leadership to come along and
bring America back.

THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Fat her, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be
done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our
trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass
against us. And lead us not into temptation, but
deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and
the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. AMEN! |
OUR PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the
UNITED STATES of AMERICA, and to the Republic
for which it stands: One nation under GOD,
Indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all. |

Christmas Party
December 10, 2011
I
would like to
thank everyone who came to our home for the Christmas party.
We enjoyed the company and the fellowship, and the great
food. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that 2012
will bring you blessings beyond anyone's expectations. We
continue to count our more than abundant blessings!
Love,
Jane
Monthly report on
Project "W"
Wayne's 57 Chevy Truck Reported by Wayne Hart
Progress during December
was very little. But, I am happy to report that I have
another motor for the truck! I am now the proud owner
of the 327 engine that use to reside in Tay Everett's 55
Chevy! Although missing a few minor ingredients such as a
starter, alternator, water pump, and carburetor, I am sure
and confident that I have something great to work with.
Hopefully Tay, you will not recognize it a few months from
now!
I am about to try my hand
at replacing the bottom portions of my two truck doors which
have rusted out. I have the right and left inner and outer
patch panels. I just need to start doing some cutting off
and welding back, just as I did on the cab corners a while
back. I have also been studying all the steps involved in
converting the doors to the one piece glass design. That
will come after the door repair. Wish me luck please!
Better report next month
hopefully.
